It’s finally happening – Disney has confirmed that Disney+ will be available in South Africa (SA) in 2022!
A Brief History
The Walt Disney Company‘s streaming service, Disney+, launched in 2019 and has been available to 18 countries across Europe and the US. While it has been available in some regions, others have been left without it. There have been rumours since its launch about expanding its footprint, however, this wasn’t much more than hopeful speculation.
Many South Africans (including myself) have been eagerly waiting for the streaming service to come to SA, while those less patient have found workarounds using a VPN.

How Much Will It Cost?
The price for Disney+ in South Africa is from R119 per month. This is in keeping with what other streaming services charge. There are also bundle packages that allow subscribers to stream hulu and ESPN content as well, though it is not clear at this stage whether South Africans will have access to this option.
